Corporate Lawyer Brett Rodda Returns to Munger, Tolles & Olson

Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP announced on Sept. 26, 2018 that Brett J. Rodda has rejoined the partnership after serving for the last two and a half years as the general counsel of Silver Point Capital, L.P.

“Brett’s experience and business savvy offers clients smart, thoughtful counsel in navigating their most important, high-stakes deals, and we are thrilled to have him back,” Munger, Tolles & Olson name partner Ronald L. Olson said.

Prior to going in-house in 2016, Mr. Rodda spent nearly 17 years at the firm, where he handled a wide variety of corporate transactions and securities matters, with a focus on representing investment funds, strategic buyers and boards of directors. His work included representing clients in their investments in Silicon Valley and technology startups, as well as advising Beats Music in its sale to Apple. As general counsel for Silver Point, an investment adviser with more than $10.5 billion in capital focused on global credit, distressed and special situations investments, Mr. Rodda oversaw all legal matters for the firm and its funds.

“I am excited to join the firm’s new D.C. office, and to help expand an already-strong platform that is handling many of the most sophisticated transactions in the marketplace,” Mr. Rodda said. “I’m looking forward to returning to private practice with a deeper understanding of the issues that drive our clients’ decision-making.”

Mr. Rodda has been recognized in Chambers USA and was named a Daily Journal Top Lawyer Under 40. Mr. Rodda received his law degree from Stanford Law School, where he graduated Order of the Coif. He obtained a B.A., summa cum laude, from George Washington University, where he majored in political communication.
